Quick Guide Of Visa Requirements for Greece
Short-Stay (Type C Schengen Visa) – Up to 90 days
Who needs it?
Non‑EU/EEA nationals from countries that don’t have visa-free access to the Schengen Area
Tourist visa-exempt: Citizens of the U.S., Canada, Australia, most of the EU, Japan, South Korea, etc., do not need a visa for stays up to 90 days
Requirements for Schengen visa:
- Valid passport (≥3 months beyond departure date + issued within last 10 years).
- Completed application, two photos, proof of accommodation, round-trip itinerary, and evidence of sufficient funds (≈ €50/day).
- Travel health insurance covering ≥ €30,000 for medical, hospital, and repatriation across Schengen.
Long-Stay (National Type D Visa) – Over 90 days
Used for: Work, studies, family reunification, digital nomad stays, investment, etc.
Requirements include:
Passport valid ≥ 1.5 years (varies by category).
- Completed application, photos, criminal record certificate, medical certificate.
- Proof of purpose: acceptance letter (students), job contract (workers), proof of income/investment.
- Mandatory travel/health insurance that covers the entire stay, emergency medical care, hospitalization, and repatriation.
Tips for Applicants
Start early: Schengen visa → up to 15 days processing; Type D → can take longer (refer to embassy guidelines).
